South Rim Hike of the Chisos Mtns

We started our hike in the morning, as the heat of a September day comes on early in the Chihuahuan Desert. We hiked up to Laguna Meadows and enjoyed a rest break looking over the Chisos Mountains Lodge, already happy for the elevation we had gained. After a few more miles we were at the South Rim. We hiked on the edge for several miles, pausing at every viewpoint. Then it was off to Boot Canyon. We descended back into the Chisos Basin via the Pinnacles trail and enjoyed sunset.
